Teachers' Perceptions of Greek Special Education Policies and Practices

Special education teachers and related service providers were interviewed for their perspectives on Greek special education policies and practices and how these influenced their job preparation and duties. Specifically, they were asked about the impact of the following on their jobs: Greek law related to the education of students with disabilities; university teacher training programs; job experience; teaching strategies; and changing teacher roles. They were also asked for suggestions to improve special education practices. Their perspectives are summarized and recommendations are provided.

Resumen

Los profesores de Educación Especial y los proveedores de Servicios Relacionados fueron entrevistados sobre sus perspectivas con respecto a las políticas y las prácticas de educación especial en Grecia y como estas han influenciado la preparación de su trabajo y sus responsabilidades. Específicamente se les planteó sobre el impacto en el seguimiento en su labor. La ley Griega referente a la educación de estudiantes con discapacidad; los programas universitarios de formación de profesores, la experiencia laboral, las estrategias de enseñanza, y los cambiantes roles docentes. También se les preguntó por sugerencias para mejorar las prácticas de educación especial. Sus perspectivas son resumidas, también son provistas recomendaciones.
